What’s on offer?

Each artist has sole access to an enclosed desk and locker, meeting rooms, networking events and technical support.

All the following facilities are available for just £150 per month:

  • Secure desk space with lockable storage
  • A creative, exciting, professional well-networked environment
  • Credible big-city-centre business address
  • Wi-fi, cleaning, electricity and heating included
  • Visible profile and interaction within the STEAMhouse online community
  • Use of co-working, meeting rooms, collaboration spaces and café
  • STEAMhouse membership privileges, such as member events and business support
  • Brokered connections with the academic and business community
  • Opportunities to host your own events and contribute to the STEAM programme

Why not consider our Studio Plus package, designed especially for makers?

For just £200 per month you can enjoy all the facilities listed above, with the following additional benefits:

  • Access to STEAMhouse Production Space facilities
  • Technical assistance when using the Production machinery
  • Access to STEAMhouse making and assembly areas

(All monthly prices are exclusive of VAT)

Application criteria

  1. You must be a self-employed artist / creative practitioner
  2. You can demonstrate that you make, work or lead on creative opportunities/projects
  3. You have an idea or project that you wish to pursue which is new, ambitious, and creates a step change for your practice
  4. You would benefit from a residency period with access to space, equipment, and expertise that is otherwise not available to you
  5. You are willing to work in line with STEAM principles of collaboration, conversation, exploration, newness, and openness
  6. You are willing to be part of and contribute to the broader STEAMhouse community
  7. You would participate in case study material to demonstrate the benefits of STEAMhouse support

Other considerations

Priority is given to artists who most strongly meet the criteria, have registered their interest the longest, and whose practices are most aligned to the STEAMhouse community and its principles.

The studio space is based on one unit per studio member. Collectives are considered as a single member.

We warmly encourage applications by artists from people of all backgrounds. We are keen to increase the number of artists from Black, Asian and minority ethnic communities and people with disabilities.
