It seems like everywhere; marketers are talking about TikTok. And  we believe that it’s with good reason.  

Its popularity has exploded among the younger generations over the last couple of years. In fact, by early 2019, TikTok reached  1 billion downloads overtaking both Facebook and Instagram. 

So, what does that have to do with using it for your business? Let us explain our thoughts.  

What is TikTok? 

The network was created in China and was originally called In 2018 it was rebranded as Tick Tok and quickly grew all over the world. 

Tick Tok is a video platform where most users share videos up to 15 seconds long, but there’s also an option to share 60 second long . 

15 seconds sounds like a short time , however scrolling through tiktok It’s amazing what creative minds can come up with! 

Isn’t TikTok a small platform ?  

  • TikTok is the sixth largest social network 
  • So far, TikTok is the No. 1 downloaded app of 2020 
  • TikTok is available in more than 150 countries 
  • TikTok users spend an average of 46 minutes a day on the app

How to Market on TikTok

There are 3 main ways to use Tik Tok as part of your marketing strategy.

  1. Create your own channel and upload relevant videos 
  1. Partner with other creators to help spread awareness to a large audience 
  1. Pay to advertise – keep in mind that advertising is in its very early stages but as the platform grows so will the potential of advertising 

At this stage, most businesses choose to do a combination of creating original content and partnering with other creators. 

Isnt Tiktok just silly dances?  

In short , no it’s not. In recent years more and more creative content has emerged. Here are some examples of new content that business are creating today.

So how can you use a challenge to increase brand awareness? Yes, simply come up with a great idea, create a unique hashtag or voice over and put it out there. If you’re just getting started, working already existing challenges a good idea to get more exposure. 

User-Generated Content 

Just like the challenges, people love to take videos of their experiences. Encourage your audience to take a video of themselves and their friends using your product. This is a great way to get unique and original content created for your brand without having to create it yourself.

How to videos / creation 

Everybody loves getting involved in DIY projects. Tiktock is a great way to showcase some simple tricks and hacks to help people learn and get exposure for your brand. Due to the limited time given to record the video we recommend that you setup the workspace and all the equipment you need prior to filming. 

Behind the brand 

For a person view of the brand you could do behind-the-scenes video showcasing what you get up to on a daily basis. our marketing team has noticed a trend of sharing where businesses get their product packaging from and how they assemble these packages together for customer orders.
