Dear STEAMhouse community,

We hope that you are well and keeping safe.

In the light of advice and recommendations given to us surrounding the news of COVID19, please read the following information, below.

Attention STEAMhouse members

We will regrettably be closing from this week onwards due to recent advice on COVID19. We anticipate this will be for around 12 weeks but we are preparing for longer.

Please collect any equipment or materials which you currently have stored here with us by Wednesday 18th March. If this is not possible then please let us know via steamhouse@bcu.ac.uk. Thank you for your cooperation.

Communicating with the team

The STEAMhouse team will still be contactable via e-mail or Teams. With staff being encouraged to work from home, communication channels will be set up for STEAMhouse members.

For general enquiries, please contact: steamhouse@bcu.ac.uk

Next phase applications

The next phase of our project will still go live on Monday 23rd March and we will be assessing applications the week afterwards. Further updates, including when the facility will reopen, will be available here.

Events

All events and tours have been postponed until further notice. Apologies for any inconvenience caused to you. If you have already registered then you should have received an e-mail from us confirming the event postponement/ cancellation.

Maker Monday

Our next event will be online with a livestream presentation, discussions, and live Q&A with our speaker.

We care about your safety, and the safety of the broader community, and feel it is more important than ever to find new ways to connect and celebrate tech, creativity, conversation, and community.

Book your place, here: http://steamhouse.org.uk/events/maker-monday-april-13-2020/

With Maker Monday being held online this time, we are likely going to employ Zoom, so now would be a good time to sign up, download, or update your software (don’t worry, it’s free).

One bit of good news is that we can host many more participants with no need for a waitlist, so this is a great time to participate, meet new folks, and introduce your friends and colleagues to us. Whilst we believe in the power of gathering face to face, we also believe in protecting your health and safety first, so greetings will have to be digital during these extraordinary circumstances!

Stay safe

We look forward to updating you with more information as it becomes available.

Stay safe and sound.

With thanks and good health,
The STEAMhouse team
