All that Glistens – A Sensory Walk & Workshop with Kaye Winwood, Tom Hicks and Liz Berry

Thursday 25th May 2023 – 17:30 – 20:30

This workshop, with acclaimed artist Tom Hicks (aka Black Country Type), the award-winning poet Liz Berry, and sensory artist, Kaye Winwood is a unique, creative event fusing together photography, food and poetry.

This three-part event will focus on the overlooked objects and architecture we walk past every day; tuning our senses to the neglected beauty that can often be found in abandoned things if only we hold our nerve and gaze.

The workshop will be tailored to STEAMhouse’s immediate location, starting with a psycho-geographic walk where participants will take photos followed by a discussion with artist Tom Hicks; We will head back indoors to a sensory experience prepared by artist, Kaye Winwood and this will be followed by a poetry workshop with Liz Berry.

Attendees of similar previous event said:

A “Joyful, supportive, stimulating” event

“it was great to be introduced to the concept that this detail can and does involve other senses than sight. Quite life changing really”

“Great combination of mediums, and all 3 artists were approachable & knowledgeable, making the whole experience a relaxing yet engaging affair.”

About the Facilitators

Kaye Winwood – Has an innovative creative practice, inviting audiences to engage with unique sensory environments and objects and in Autumn 2021 she launched GULP – the first UK space dedicated to exploring food art histories, and showcasing innovation within food and sensory design through a programme of sensory dining experiences and activities.
