A STEAM Lab by Next Nature Network – discuss, collaborate and ideate about the impact of technology on our lives and the planet.

About this event:

This is the first of two collaborative online workshops hosted by Next Nature Network. The second workshop is scheduled for 27th October 11:00-13:00.

Places on both workshops are limited to 16 participants and tickets are initially available to STEAMhouse members only.

What’s a STEAM Lab?

STEAM Labs are highly experimental collaborative workshops where participants work through a STEAM process that impels them to think about the development of projects, products, and services in completely new ways. Each STEAM Lab is different but every one is underpinned by our five guiding principles: conversation, exploration, collaboration, openness and newness.

What’s this one all about?

This STEAM Lab is all about exploring the concept of Next Nature – what does it entail and how do you relate to this concept? Next Nature Network will showcase a selection of their speculative projects as a starting point for participants to reflect, discuss and work with the Next Nature concept during the workshop.

Who are Next Nature and what do they do?

Next Nature Network explores the future of nature driven by the idea that we’re so surrounded by technology that it becomes our next nature. They want to explore the impact of technology on our lives and the planet as a whole to understand we’ll survive as humans. Their work positions possible futures in their speculative projects, expos, publications, training programs and talks. Next Nature is an international network of designers, scientists, artists, philosophers and other professionals, they’re based in the Netherlands (Amsterdam and Eindhoven).

What will happen during the STEAM Lab?

You’ll be challenged to ideate and reflect, discuss and collaborate on Next Nature themes. The STEAM Lab might be about deep time and extreme long term thinking, exploring the relation in valuing ecology and economy, or rethinking food and food systems.

Who’s it for?

This STEAM Lab is for everyone who’s interested in exploring how a happy marriage between nature and technology might take form in possible futures that benefit both people and the planet.

What will I get out of it?

This is up to you to define! Next Nature Network offer a new perspective on both nature and technology and how we as humans are co-evolving in this happy marriage. You’ll dive into this matter and discuss, reflect, ideate and collaborate in this STEAM Lab.

*We’ll use closed captions during these workshops. If you have specific accessibility requirements please let us know and we’ll do our best to accomodate.
