This short course has been designed to introduce makers, artists and designers to Fusion 360 software so you can start your journey in digital design.
Fusion 360 is a versatile programme with a range of applications, from designing functional parts for digital fabrication using 3D printers, lasercutters and CNC machines to the production of professional visualisations to communicate ideas and concepts in proposals and pitches.
No prior experience is needed. The course combines online learning with expert technical support. Completely practice-led, you will learn by building real-world objects, moving through the process in a friendly and accessible way, step by step and at your own pace, with the help of online video guides.
This learning will be supported by three live, online group sessions led by STEAMhouse’s Senior Technician Chris Hay who will be available throughout to answer any questions and support you as you develop your skills and knowledge, meaning you don’t have to spend hours searching YouTube for the answers!
As the course builds you will become comfortable using and navigating the software. The key skills demonstrated within the live sessions will enable you to start applying digital design tools to your own projects and prototypes.
Participants must be able to attend all the sessions.
WHO IS THIS FOR?
This course is suitable for makers from all sectors who want to develop their digital fabrication skills. It covers key 3D digital design concepts and is suitable for beginners, and those who are switching to Fusion 360 from another CAD package for the first time.
HOW TO APPLY
This workshop is fully funded as part of the STEAMhouse Create Programme.
To take part you must be registered as self-employed or have your own business and be based in England. To be accepted onto the course you will have to provide a UTR number (if you are self-employed) or a Company Registration number.
To ensure a quality learning experience we work with small groups – there are a maximum of 15 spaces so we expect the workshop to be oversubscribed.

1. If you are not already a STEAMhouse member, please introduce yourself and let us know what you do, where you are based and state whether you are self-employed or have a company. Please include your UTR number or company number.
2. A short expression of interest (explaining why you want to take part in the workshop, how you hope to use Fusion 360 and how it will benefit your business. We are looking for participants who have a clear sense of how they might apply the knowledge they will gain.

REQUIREMENTS
– You will need access to Autodesk Fusion 360 software. The software has been released in two distinct forms – Hobbyist and Professional. This course covers the professional version. To take part you will need to buy the software, apply for free access as a startup or download a free 30 day trial.
– A personal computer – core i3 or better.
