We’ll be using Art-Day clay to create some unique and personalised items for you to take away after the session.

Join us for our Lunch & Learn to Unleash Your Inner Sculptor: An Air-Dry Clay Workshop

This workshop invites you to explore the world of clay and pottery and unleash your creativity over lunch! We’ll be using air-drying clay, a beginner-friendly material that allows you to create unique and personalized pieces without the need for a kiln.

What to expect:

• Introduction to air-drying clay: Your experienced instructor Rachel Akers will start by explaining the properties of air-drying clay, its different types, and basic handling techniques. You’ll get comfortable kneading, rolling, and shaping the clay.

• Project inspiration: Our pottery instructor will present various project ideas, ranging from simple ornaments and bowls to more intricate sculptures and figures. Choose a project that resonates with you or come prepared with your own ideas!

• Step-by-step guidance: The instructor will demonstrate essential techniques like pinching, coiling, smoothing, and adding texture. They’ll provide personalized guidance and support throughout the workshop, ensuring you feel confident in your creations.

• Hands-on creation: Dive into the creative process and pottery! With all the tools and materials provided, you’ll bring your chosen project to life. Feel free to experiment, explore different techniques, and let your imagination run wild.

• Finishing touches: Learn how to smooth imperfections, add details, and personalize your creations. We’ll explore various finishing options like painting, sanding, and varnishing (depending on the project).

• Sharing and celebrating: Take a moment to showcase your finished masterpieces! We’ll celebrate everyone’s creativity and share tips and tricks for future clay adventures.

What you’ll gain:

New skills: Learn the basics of working with air-drying clay and discover various techniques for shaping and decorating.

Creative expression: Unleash your creativity and explore your artistic potential in a supportive and encouraging environment.

Relaxation and enjoyment: De-stress and have fun while creating unique and personalised pieces to take home.

Sense of accomplishment: Experience the satisfaction of completing your own clay project and seeing your vision come to life.

Additional information: This workshop is suitable for beginners and anyone interested in exploring clay as a creative medium. All materials, including air-drying clay, tools, and finishing supplies, will be provided. Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting slightly dirty (don’t worry clay washes off you)!
