Online event

Materials Club is our monthly, interdisciplinary meetup for people interested in biomaterials and material innovation, and the opportunities and potential they offer within a circular and creative economy. Join to share ideas and experiments, ask questions, find collaborators and hear from a range of artists, designers and scientists who are exploring this area.

This month we are meeting online and looking forward to finding out more about Laurie Ramsell’s work. Laurie is a Birmingham based cross-disciplinary artist who is investigating what it means to be human in an age of genetic modification and disruptive technologies, often through the use of biological materials. Recent artworks have explored human genomics using zebrafish, creating living bioart sculptures from bacterial cellulose, reproducing the Birmingham Art Map using slime mold, 3D clay printing, and performances inspired by the movement of motor proteins.
