Time to Boost your Website with Robin Kay

This course takes place in person on 9th December 2021, 11th January and 20th January 2022 – This is a Live Event at Millennium Point in a safe and clean environment.

Extended deadline: Apply no later than 5pm on Monday 29th November 2021, numbers are limited.

With the emergence of ‘drag and drop’ website creation applications, the ability to create websites that exactly meet the expectations of SMEs and creatives in look and feel has diminished.

This series of three workshops focuses on the basics of hand-coded website creation with a ground-up approach to understanding web coding.

The first session will explore HTML coding and its role in establishing the layout, navigation and placement of content. We will then progress to CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and learn how to position and style the web pages to make them appealing to users and encourage engagement. The third and final session will focus on responsive website design and user device considerations.

The ability to understand how websites are created and what the code ‘does’ will broaden the creative possibilities of your website creation and enhance the user’s engagement with your content.

To get the most out of these sessions, we recommend you attend all 3 events to develop a strong website.

You will need access to your own laptop/computer for the session.

HOW TO APPLY AND ELIGIBILITY

This workshop is fully funded as part of the STEAMhouse Funded Programme. To take part you must be an eligible SME – this means you must be registered as self-employed or have your own business based in England.

To take part you will need to provide a UTR number if you are self-employed or a company registration number.

You must be able to attend all three sessions.

Spaces are very limited and we expect to be oversubscribed.

To apply to take part please email the following information to steamhouse@bcu.ac.uk by Thursday 25th November. Please write “Your Website Workshop” in the subject header.

1. A short expression of interest explaining why you want to take part in the workshop and how you think it will benefit your business. We are looking for participants who have a clear sense of how they might apply the knowledge they will gain to the development of new projects.

2. If you are not already a STEAMhouse member, please introduce yourself and let us know what you do. Please also let us know where you are based and confirm whether you are self-employed or have your own business.
