Learning about VR workshop; testing sci-fiction immersive VR experience using Mozilla Hubs – Friday 4th November
Mozilla Hubs is an increasingly popular tool for collaborating and hosting meetings in 3D virtual spaces. This workshop, with the use of immersive Sci-Fi storytelling, will teach you the functionality of Mozilla Hubs in an engaging and interactive way.
We will cover the core basics of Mozilla Hubs: navigation, the use of avatars, the manipulation of 3D objects, and interaction with the 3D environment. Participants will explore the immersive Sci-Fi environments created and tailored for the purpose of the workshop using VR headsets and laptops.
During the workshop, participants will get an opportunity to create their own customizable VR rooms. These custom rooms will be created using Spoke – a free web-based tool integrated with Mozilla Hubs.
Robot Diaries is an immersive storytelling experience built by Anna Nierobisz. It is part of a project funded by Arts Council England, which mission is to teach young people the technical skills and opportunities of using VR technologies.
On the day, Anna will share her insights and personal journey of creating Robot Dairies, including the challenges faced and the lessons learned. Moreover, building on the initial positive reception of the project, Anna plans to develop it further and convert Robot Diaries into a full-blown game. Therefore, she will seek to use the opportunity to brainstorm ideas for taking the next steps with Robot Diaries and making the most of their storytelling and technical potential.
Please note that this workshop is for STEAMhouse Create members only.
