Our Innovation Methods and Mindset courses have been designed to empower: to help leaders drive change, support teams to become more resilient and collaborative, and foster confidence and self-leadership in people.

Choose from 6 one-day sessions or attend the entire programme. Each session has been created in partnership with leading industry practitioners who are actively working in the field with businesses large and small to create and implement innovation. 1. Build the Foundations for Innovation and Growth

What you’ll learn

This interactive one-day course will enable you to set a strong foundation by creating an evidence-based business case for innovation and growth. You’ll identify knowledge gaps and learn how to use research to fill those gaps in order to minimise risks and move confidently in the right direction.

  • How to set goals for innovation and growth
  • How to identify barriers to innovation goals
  • How to use research insights to drive product development
  • How to identify research methods that generate evidence
  • How to use research to create a business case for innovation

The skills you’ll develop

You’ll develop an understanding of how to spot problems worth solving in your business.

You’ll be able to frame research questions and understand what research you want and need to drive development efforts.

You’ll determine what research you can conduct in your team and what you need to outsource, and you’ll be able to make sense of data once you’ve collected it.

 
 

Meet your trainer: Nightingale Design Research

Experts in Design Research, Nightingale supports successful innovation in organisations of all sizes, across healthcare, transport, retail and the creative industries. Their team work at the very early stages of idea generation and discovery, through to the implementation of market-ready products and services.

Frances Brown, CEO

Frances is a psychologist who worked in academic research before moving into the world of human centred design over ten years ago. She has worked with a wide range of teams, from large government organisations to early stage startups, to deliver high quality qualita- tive and quantitative research that feeds into and shapes innovative design. She is skilled at working with teams to facilitate communication, ideation and product development.

 

2. Spot Opportunities for Innovation with Experience Design

What you’ll learn

This one-day course will equip you with skills you need to evalaute your offer and spot opportunities to enhance your portfolio, utilising best practice tools used in Experience Design. You’ll explore how innovative companies use design approaches to innovate with minimal investment and maximum impact.

  • How to innovate efficiently by focusing on user experience, before investing in new technology
  • How to put your customer’s experiences at the heart of your product development process
  • How to frame problems and prioritise opportunities to drive income
  • How to create ‘experience eco-sytems’ that extend beyond your product offer

You’ll learn how to enhance your current product offer and drive additional income by focusing on user experience.

What you’ll learn

Get under the skin of what creativity in business means for you and your team. Explore where creativity is useful to you, but also understand where it might hinder what you need to get done. This session is designed to help you shape a creative problem-solving approach that works for your business.

Kath Smith, Founder

Kath is a creative specialist with 20 years experience in design and innovation management. Working as a Senior Designer at Macmillan Cancer Support and other well-known charities helped cement her belief that design has the power to help transform lives. Kath works alongside a team of trusted specialists to deliver propositions, brand identities, campaigns, and creative strategies for some of the UK’s leading organisations.

Steve May-Russell is a leading Industrial Design and Innovation Consultant and the CEO of the Smallfry. Steve has represented the creative industries on the UK Trade & Investment’s bi-lateral partnerships in East Asia and is regularly invited to speak to international audiences on Innovation and using Design to develop brands. Steve lectures at Cranfield, Cambridge University, Coventry University and Loughborough.
