Birmingham City University and STEAMhouse welcomes Richard Beason, Growth Hub Manager (Creative Industries) to the partnerships team. We caught up with Richard to find out how the Growth Hub can help local businesses, his role and how he can help your business.

Hi Richard, thanks for taking the time to join us for a virtual chat today and welcome aboard!
First of all, can you tell us a bit about the GBSLEP Growth Hub?

The GBSLEP Growth Hub is a home for advice, guidance and funding for businesses and entrepreneurs across the Greater Birmingham area.

It offers impartial, no-cost advice from expert business advisers and account managers, online and in person.

We are working with specialist partner organisations in public and private sectors to help businesses to succeed.

And how about your role as Creative Sector Account Manager, what does that involve?

My role of the account manager within the Growth Hub is to be the sector expert with the skills and experience to advise, guide, support and mentor businesses within that specialist sector. I’m here to introduce businesses to other appropriate sources of support.

I am also here to have an ear to the ground to be able to feed back to policy makers on what other support is required that is not currently available.

My career so far as both a manager/owner of multiple creative sector businesses and a business advisor gives me ideal experience suited to help creative businesses in the region to thrive.

Thank you, Richard!

So, how can Richard help you?

Richard has a broad range of business skills and experience, he understands the creative mindset and the special nature of the sector and is an experienced advisor and mentor.

Richard is available to help local creative businesses across a wide range of business topics, including but not exclusively; strategy, business plan, financial planning & finance, marketing, skills and recruitment or perhaps just a second pair of eyes to share thoughts with.

Many businesses are looking at a revised strategy in the current circumstances, Richard can help with that.

Summary

For a lot of businesses at present, success means survival rather than growth but it is clear that a helping hand is needed now more than ever and that over the coming months, businesses can emerge from the current difficult circumstances and the sector can become more vibrant and more successful than ever.

Richard’s time is already is already paid for and there is NO COST to eligible businesses for his support. If you would like some support, simply get in touch.
