STEAMmates, meet – Tusheeta David, Acrylic jewellery
Tusheeta moved to the UK from India in 2006 and decided to pursue her Masters in the School of Jewellery, Birmingham in 2007. This is where she developed her jewellery made out acrylic which was inspired by microscopic images from nature. After completing her Masters she set up her own business with the help of Design Space (an incubation space for new businesses in the Jewellery Quarter).
Later into her jewellery making journey she was introduced to STEAMhouse by Karen Patel, from BCU.
“I was looking for a space where I could access laser cutters and develop my work further. I went for an induction and realised that this was the perfect place for me. Apart from the fantastic equipment that they provide, having the technical and business support has been invaluable. I’ve been able to explore various printing techniques to develop my work further and I’ve also been able to explore and develop techniques using the laser cutter. I’ve also greatly benefited from working alongside other creative people from different fields and backgrounds in the same space.”
